Stainless steel lever chronograph by Eberhard & Co.

A large, Swiss Staybrite stainless steel open faced keyless winding chronograph lever pocket watch with 30 minute register, telemeter and tachometer, so called Racing, circa 1930-1935.
Rhodium-plated movement, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self compensating Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Round shaped stainless steel polished and brushed case. Pink colour dial with suspended Arabic numerals, original Breguet-style hands, and two horological complications: 1/5 second chronograph (activated by the round push piece located on the winding crown) with a tachymetric scale graduated for 1 000 metres, and telemetric scale graduated for 1 kilometre; safety olive shaped bolt locking the chronograph’s functions (slide at 1:30); Half instantaneous 30 minute recorder (subsidiary dial at 12 o’clock). Dial, case and movement signed and accompanied by an original fitted box and pouch.

Eberhard & Co SA, Swiss watch manufacture
This Swiss watch company, Eberhard & Co SA, was founded in 1887 by Georges-Emile Eberhard in La Chaux-de-Fonds; in the same year, he presented his first pocket chronograph. In 1907, the Eberhard manufacture headquarters were inaugurated on Rue Léopold Robert in La Chaux-de-Fonds. In 1919 the sons Georges and Maurice Eberhard took over the management. From 1919 Eberhard also became the official supplier of the Royal Italian Navy. In 1926 they took over the company completely. Eberhard & Co has been a specialist in wrist chronographs since the 1920s. The most famous Eberhard watches are the chronographs: Extra-fort, Aviograf and Tazio Nuvolari.
