Gold repeating watch by Louis Duchène & Fils
–
A decorative Swiss lady’s quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1820.
This timepiece is crafted with an 18K rose gold case, featuring half-pearls along the borders, a Sablé-ground, and a reeded band. The back side of the case is paste-set, adding to its opulent design. The silver dial is engine-turned and adorned with applied floral gold ornaments, radial Roman numerals, and blued lozenge hands, all of which contribute to the watch’s impeccable artistry. A bridge movement and keywind operate the watch with a frosted, gilt finish. The watch also has two hammers, two gongs, one barrel, a cylinder escapement, and a ring balance.
