Gold, enamel  and pearls verge watch

A charming, fine gold enamel pendant form watch in the shape of a small wicker basket, studded with half-pearls, circa 1810.
A gold and enamel pocket watch, enamel dial, full plate movement, chain/fusee, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance.
Pressing the pusher opens the little basket and reveals the dial. The arched top of the watch is decorated with translucent green enamel on floral engine turned pattern. The lower part imitates a wicker basket with vertical rows of half pearls on opaque blue ground symbolising the willow switches. The handle is formed by stylized, partly enamelled leaf scrolls.
