A very fine French, 18 carat yellow gold minute repeating keyless pocket watch with a chronograph, circa 1890. A polished case, a button at 12 for start/stop and return to zero function of the chronograph and a hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, outermost fifths of second divisions with Arabic five second numerals, subsidiary seconds and gold spade hands. Rhodium plated movement, 29 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with peripheral temperature and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil, swanneck micrometre regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Cuvette signed.
