A very fine Swiss 18K gold and enamel centre seconds pocket watch with duplex escapement made for the Chinese market, circa 1830. Doves and Flowers by Bovet. The back enamel panel finely painted with a pair of doves, symbolizing true love and summer flowers over a pale blue ground in the manner of Dufaux, bezels, pendant and bow decorated with dark blue, red and pale green champlevé enamelled decoration. Hinged gilt-brass cuvette.

White enamel dial with radial Roman hours, outer minute divisions with Arabic quarter-hour numerals, gold spade hands. Gilt-brass movement, Chinese calibre, free-standing barrel, duplex escapement, bimetallic compensation three-arm balance with blued steel weights, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Movement signed.
