A highly interesting gold enamel Lepine with jumping hour and subsidiary seconds, important watchmaker J. Louis Audemars Brassus & Geneve, circa 1782-1833. An 18 Carat gold, thin, very lavishly enamelled gold case with a total of 23 enamelled segments, enamelled in different colours, decentralized dial with central minute hand and subsidiary seconds, a window for the jumping hour above, cuvette signed, an extremely thin caliber with cylinder escapement, optically very beautiful condition, needs to be overhauled. The watch is a real rarity.

J. Louis Audemars Brassus & Geneve (1782-1833) is mentioned in the Baillie as “Eminent Maker”. In 1811 he founded the world famous Louis Audemars company as the successor of his famous teacher Philippe Meylan. In the period from 1820 to ca. 1830 he worked on adapting Breguet calibres for different watch sizes and strengths and added additional complications. Probably at this time this watch was made. It is one of the earliest signed watches of Louis Audemars and in this version the only one known to us! A comparable watch of identical design, signed Le Roy was sold in Geneva in 2007 for over 8500 Swiss Francs.
