Gold open faced lever pocket watch

A very fine and rare Swiss, 18K pink gold, minute repeating, keyless, pocket watch, circa 1887. Sold on October 23rd, 1889. Watch with seven complications with perpetual calendar, chronograph, moon phases and age. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. A massive, polished case, the back engraved with a coat-of-arms with the motto Verace Suis, Mensonge Fuis, button in the crown for the chronograph. Hinged gold cuvette.

White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals outer minute track and fifths of second chronograph divisions, Arabic five-second numerals, subsidiary dials for the days of the week, the months and subsidiary seconds with inner red date ring, moon phase aperture with moon’s age on the border. Blued steel spade hands. A rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 35 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, visible chronograph work, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Dial, case and cuvette signed.
