A fine Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel open faced center seconds keyless lever self-winding dress watch, circa 1952. Made in only three examples, enamel by E. Pfleghard, Zürich. Sold in October 1952.
Rhodium plated movement, 25 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating flat balance spring, Incablock anti shock system on the balance, patented micrometric regulator.
Cloisonné enamel dial with Saturn, a dark red sun with rays and blue stars, applied gold indexes, gold Alpha pleines hands. Massive case, the back decorated in cloisonné enamel depicting the Earth, its celestial projections and Zodiac signs, translucent dark blue enamel frame with sunburst gold motif, polished band and front bezel.

Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects with coloured material held in place or separated by metal strips or wire, normally of gold. In recent centuries, vitreous enamel has been used, but inlays of cut gemstones, glass and other materials were also used during older periods, indeed, cloisonné enamel very probably began as an easier imitation of cloisonné work using gems. The resulting objects can also be called cloisonné.
