About the history: The historical department of the Italian navy confirms that Captain Stefano Morino took command of the ship Leonardo da Vinci in May 1914. This watch, which bears his monogram, was given to him on that occasion. The Leonardo da Vinci was purchased by the Italian Navy (Regia Marina) on 10 October 1911 and was in service from 17 May 1914. It was damaged on 2 August 1916 and restored in 1919. Its slogan was: ‘Non si volta chi a stella è Tiso’.
