A Swiss gentleman’s elegant quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1820.
18-carat gold case; back with very fine engraving, in part with polychrome enamelling, lavish floral ornaments, central oval medallion with medieval court scene “at each side diamond-shaped panels showing a carrier pigeon and musical instruments”: top part with an oval panel showing a putto; lower part with an oblong panel showing a sleeping beauty; case maker’s punch mark “DLG” and reeded band. Enamel dial with Arabic “Empire” numerals and blued Breguet hands Firegilt and keywind full plate movement with chain/fusee, 2 hammers / 2 gongs, cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance and fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.
