Unsigned gold verge watch in the shape of a lyre
–
A Swiss gold enamel and pearl-set lyre-form watch, circa 1810. This watch features an unsigned gilded full plate movement with a verge escapement, a decoratively pierced and engraved balance bridge, a plain flat balance, a silver regulation plate, fusee and chain, and cylindrical pillars. The dial is white enamel with Arabic numerals, an outer minute ring, an aperture for winding, and gold hands. The gold case has the dial side surrounded by black champlevé enamel heightened with pearls, a panel of red translucent enamel over a chased ground above the dial, and a diamond and pearl-set motif. The soundboard side has a visible balance to the aperture surrounded by pearls upon a red flinqué enamel ground, and it is numbered 1471 and 5. The pendant and base are decorated with champlevé enamel.

The movement is fully wound but not running, although the balance and escapement seem to be free. The dial is in good overall condition, while the case has some small chips and losses to the champlevé enamel. The red translucent enamel appears to be good overall, with a few light scratches, and there is a visible solder repair to the foot.
