A French gilt metal, painted-on enamel and paste-set pocket watch with outer protective case, circa 1785. A Louis XVI case by Leton, a paste-set bezel with an engraved outer border, the back with a painted-on enamel scene of a young couple in a landscape, a royal blue and gold paillon border, outer engraved border to match the bezel. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions, Arabic fifteen-minute numerals and paste-set white metal hands. A gilt-brass, full plate movement, cylindrical pillars, fuse and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock, steel endplate, silvered regulation dial. Dial and movement signed.
