Gold full hunter chronograph by Zenith

A Swiss gold hunting cased keyless lever chronograph watch with tachy scale, circa 1920. The watch features a gilded movement, signed Zenith, with a lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, and precision cam form regulation. The steel chronograph mechanism is visible through the backplate. The white enamel dial, also signed Zenith, has black Arabic numerals, an inner 24 hour ring calibrated in red, blued steel hands, and a central chronograph seconds hand. It includes two small subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 30 minute recording. The first four divisions from 0-3 of the minute register are calibrated respectively in red, black, green, and beige, corresponding to the outer tachymetric scale, which is calibrated for 1,000 metres and divided into four concentric rings that match the colours of the minute register’s prominent divisions.

It has an 18 carat gold French case with plain polished covers, a chronograph pusher integrated into the band, and is numbered 10118. The covers and pendant bear French gold marks, while the cuvette is plain and polished.

The movement is running, and the hands are setting smoothly. The surfaces are in good cosmetic condition, exhibiting some small scratches, oxidation spots, and minor signs of dirt. The chronograph functions correctly: starting, stopping, and resetting. The minute register is counting. There is a discoloured scratch extending from the edge of the dial above 2 o’clock to the side of the numeral at 1 o’clock. Case: the outer covers are in acceptable condition. The cuvette is dented and slightly creased in the lower half. It appears to be gold and is numbered in the same manner as the covers, with scratches around the opening of the cuvette.
Signed: Zenith
