A 18k gold and enamel hunting cased keyless lever watch with emblem of Estados Unitos do Brazil, circa 1910, gilt lever movement, jewelled with chatonsscrews, cut bimetallic balance, micrometer regulator, gold cuvette stamped Omega Grand Prix Paris 1900.
White enamel dial, Arabic numerals for hours and minutes, subsidiary seconds,  gold case, chiselled with floral decoration on both sides, one central polychrome enamel panel depicting a star with a laurel leaf bearing the inscription Estados Unitos do Brazil 15 de Novembre de 1889, case, dial and movement signed.

Initially independent as the Empire of Brazil, the republican state of Brazil was proclaimed on November 15, 1889, and the present watch was most probably commissioned at the time to celebrate Brazil as Estados Unidos do Brazil. Its case back is highlighted by the emblem of the country in polychrome enamel. The present lot commemorates that important event in Brazil’s modern history.
