–
A Swiss gold novelty pocket watch in the form of a double sided roulette wheel, circa 1946. This watch features a cal. 10L (10.68Z) movement with a lever escapement, 17 jewels, a bimetallic compensation balance, and a balance cock engraved with the export code LXW, signed Longines. It has a silvered dial, signed Longines, showcasing raised gilded Arabic and baton indexes, an outer minute ring, and an engine turned subsidiary seconds dial. The case is made of 14 carat gold, with the inner watch case fitted into a roulette wheel outer case that includes integrated ball bearings. The back displays alternating red and black enamel numerals indicating roulette à la boule from 1 to 9, while the edge of the satin finished case back features a black enamel filled arrow for indication. The front bezel showcases roulette numbering alternating in red and black enamel, and a black enamel engraved pointer at 9 o’clock indicates the roulette number. The inside of the case back is stamped Longines Watch Co. Inc., New York.

Movement is running. Hands are adjusting. The dial has some oxidation spots and a few scratches. Some abrasions to the minute track at 5, 8, and 10. The case has some small losses to the enamel numerals of the roulette bezels; one of the ‘1’ numerals on the boule enamel is missing enamel infill. Otherwise, the case has light scuffs but retains a good definition, and the roulette spinning action functions very well.
