The earliest known depictions of St. George and the dragon date back to the 10th and 11th centuries, pieces brought back from the crusades. It later became part of the Christian traditions relating to Saint George, who gallantly saved the King’s daughter from being sacrificed to the dragon. The detailed miniature relief work on the present example is a testament to the artistic mastery of Patek Philippe’s craftsmen, a tradition that continues today.
