Gold plated open faced keyless lever chronograph
–
A fine Swiss gold plated open faced chronograph pocket watch made by Strembel, circa 1910. It has a mechanical crown winding movement with a lever escapement and an integrated chronograph mechanism activated by a pusher on the caseband. The white enamel dial shows black Arabic numerals 1 to 12 for the hours, an inner 13–24 hour scale in red, an outer fifth of a second chronograph scale, and an outer tachymeter track calibrated for KILOMÈTRES À L’HEURE. It also has a 30 minute chronograph register at 12 o’clock, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, gilded hands for the time, and a central blued steel chronograph sweep hand. The dial is signed CHRONOGRAPHE STREMBEL – IMPORTÉ DE SUISSE.
–
The timepiece is housed in a smooth, round 50 mm yellow gold plated open faced case with a fluted winding crown and a sturdy round suspension bow.
