A Swiss 18k gold and enamel quarter repeating automaton watch, made for the Chinese market, circa 1810, verge movement, possibly later white enamel dial, Roman numerals, the reverse centered by an applied vari-color gold fountain, the water simulated by means of two twisting glass rods terminating above with two vertically nesting bells, all flanked by applied vari-color gold chased figures of a lady and a gentlemen striking the hours and quarters on the bells with mallets inhabiting a love garden setting decorated with gold details against opaque powder blue enamel, the scene revealed through glazed back, the bezels decorated with running translucent green enamel rosettes against a blue enamel ground, unsigned.
