Gold open faced repeating pocket watch
–
A rare Swiss gentleman’s quarter repeating pocket watch with musical movement, circa 1810. The watch has an 18-carat gold case, which is adorned with intricate engine-turning. It also features a pusher for enabling repetition via a pendant, a slide for activating the musical movement, and a reeded band. The dial is made of gold and is decorated with engine-turning and floral engravings. It has enamel cartouches, Breguet numerals, and blued Breguet hands. The movement is a gilt bridge type with a keywind, two hammers, two gongs, and two going barrels. It also has a sur plateau musical movement with a disc, cylinder escapement, and three-arm ring balance.
