A gentleman’s very fine, rare, magnificent gold enamel quarter repeating pocket watch “The Rape of Helena”. Circa 1820. Case is 18k gold, the edges on the front and back side set with half-pearls, reeded band, on reverse side a polychrome enamel plaque with mythologic scene “The Rape of Helena”, pendant with cord pattern, gold dome. The dial is gold, frosted, applied radial Roman gold numerals, snake hands. Bridge movement caliber “Lepine”, frosted, gilt, blued screws, cylinder escapement, 2 hammers, 2 gongs, keywind, standing barrel, three-arm ring balance, blued hairspring.
