An important, extremely rare quarter repeating hunting case pocket watch with Gregorian and also Julian (or Russian) calendar, circa 1825. 18k gold case design “quatre baguettes” by Tavernier, silver band, engine turned, à goutte, numbered and signed gold dome, pusher for repetition at “2”, case maker punch mark “MAB”. Dial is silver, engine turned, radial Roman hours, peripheral dial at “6” with double calendar indication according to the Gregorian calendar and the Julian (or Russian) calendar, Breguet signature, gold Breguet hands. Bridge movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, blued screws, 2 hammers, 2 gongs, ruby cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance, blued, temperature compensated balance spring, shock protection-”parachute”.
