Gentleman’s gold pocket watch
–
A very fine, thin 18 carat gold Swiss quarter-repeating skeletonized pocket watch with visible escapement and repeating mechanism, circa 1820. Engine-turned, reeded band. Spring-loaded gilded glazed cuvette. White enamel dial, annular with Breguet hour numerals and outer minute track, glazed centre disclosing a blued steel ground, engraved gilt wheel bridges, gold wheel train and the escapement. Blued steel Breguet hands.

Gilt brass movement, skeletonized, full plate with cylindrical pillars, going barrel, gold going train, cylinder escapement with steel escape wheel, plain steel three-arm balance with flat balance spring, polished steel pierced balance bridge, polished steel repeat work on the backplate, repeating on gongs with shaped hammers in cut away apertures in the backplate and activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed.
