A fine Swiss 18K gold, Louis XVI painted on enamel and rose-cut diamond-set pair-cased pocket watch with a short gold chain with key and tassel, circa 1780. Louis XVI case on the outer, the back centred by an oval painted on enamel medallion with a scene of a lady at the altar of love and two doves, red translucent enamel background over sunray engine-turning, light blue outer border with white enamel dots, chased gold border with leaves and a repeat pattern, bezel decorated to match and set with rose-cut diamonds, thumb-piece set with a diamond.

The inner case is polished with a white enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, an outer minute track with Arabic five-minute numerals and pierced silver diamond-set hands.
A hinged, gilt brass movement, pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, pierced and engraved balance cock with a single foot, faceted red endstone, silver regulation dial. Movement signed.
