Very fine, rare, 18K rose gold Hiding Jacks automaton quarter-repeating watch, circa 1810. Empire case, engine turned, gold bolt at 11 to block repeating activation. The dial is designed as a theatre with gold Father Time sitting in the centre of the theatre scene, holding two scythes. While pressing the pendant, two cherubs suddenly appear, striking hours and quarters in the scythes. Eccentric chapter ring with white enamel hour cartouches with Breguet numerals. 53 mm, gilt full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, silver regulating plate, all-or-nothing LeRoy type repeating system with striking speed controlling mechanism with a sector scale behind pierced and engraved continental cock, striking on gongs by depressing the pendant.
