Gold lever watch with three tone silvered dial

A very fine and rare Swiss 18 Carat gold open faced minute repeating Art Deco keyless lever dress watch, circa 1906. Hinged gold cuvette. Three tone silvered sector dial with applied gold Arabic quarter hour numerals, baton indexes, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds, and gold Feuille hands. Rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 31 jewels, counterpoised straight-line calibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan-neck micrometre regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide in the band. Dial, case, and movement signed. Accompanied by the extract from the archives.

The multi tone sector dial is an excellent example of the Art Deco design. The contrasting polished and matte surfaces are reminiscent of the chrome and frosted glass objects which were considered to be the height of fashion. The clarity of the dial is also typical of the Art Deco desire for clean lines.
