An exquisite Swiss 18K gold, enamel and half pearl-set open faced quarter repeating verge pocket watch optionally striking on a bell or à toc, circa 1820. Comes with a glazed protective case, matching chatelaine and Morocco presentation case.
Both bezels are set with half-pearls, the case back with a polychrome enamel scene on a translucent dark blue ground depicting the Three Graces, engraved band, a rare feature is a switch that toggles the quarter repeat between à tact on the case and à tact on a bell in the case back. Signed white enamel dial with Arabic hours, outer minute divisions and Arabic fifteen-minute numerals, gold hands. Full plate movement, keywind, chain and fusee, two hammers and three-arm brass balance.

The Bordier brothers were associated watchmakers as early as 1794. In 1815, they worked at the Grand Mézel. In 1794, they took Roux and Romand into partnership, establishing the company Bordier Roux Romand & Cie. Between 1794 and 1811, they were specialized in automaton repeating watches as well as complicated or skeletonized watches with a perpetual calendar, often decorated with painted enamels, pearls and gemstones.
