A very fine 18 Carat gold and painted on enamel keyless dress watch made by Election, La Chaux de Fonds Switzerland, circa 1910. Three body case with the bezel chased with oak leaf decoration, coin edge band, the back with a fine painted on enamel scene of a Roman gladiator standing before the Emperor victorious over his defeated opponents, the armour highlighted with coloured paillons, inscribed “Pas de grâce pour le vaincu” (No mercy for the vanquished).
Mat silver dial with Breguet numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds and blued steel spade hands. Rhodium-plated movement with 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring and an index regulator. Dial signed, case numbered, enamel signed “E.V”.
