Cabochon is the name for a technique for cutting precious and semi-precious stones and the name for the stones obtained with this. The natural stones are first cut into a shape, for example, in a heart, oval or square form, after which layers are cut from the top until the stone has become convex. They are used to make relics visible in reliquaries. Cabochon grinding requires a grinding machine equipped with grinding wheels or grinding belts.
