–
A rare Swiss Art Deco open faced dress watch set with diamonds, circa 1925. The watch has a mechanical movement with 17 jewels and a lever escapement. The silvered dial includes Arabic hour markers, minute divisions, sunken subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gold baton hands. The case is plain brushed platinum and diamond set, with a monogrammed snap-on case back. It is signed by Agassiz on the case, dial, and movement. It comes with an Agassiz case box.

The case is in very good condition overall, with superficial scratches throughout. There are some minor dings at the bottom of the case back, and it is monogrammed HKG. The diamonds are intact. The dial is in good condition overall, and the wear is consistent with its age. There is light tarnish on the indexes and debris and dust throughout. The movement is running.

Agassiz Watch Co. S.A. was founded in 1876 and specialised in high-quality watches. A new calibre was designed based on regular 19”’ watch movements, smaller in diameter, and as slim as technically possible. The firm designed entirely new and even thinner movements: first 17”’–24/12th, then 20/12th and 17/12th. Later, Agassiz merged with Touchon & Co., Geneva, which specialised in very thin movements.
