A fine and rare Swiss gentleman’s pocket watch with early minute repeater and cylinder escapement, circa 1820.
18 carat rose gold case with net-shaped decorated band, the back lid with crusader crest of the Deans family and motto: “Arte Vel Marte” (“By Art or Force”), case maker punch mark “SD” and pusher for repetition via pendant. Enamel dial with Arabic numerals and gold Breguet hands. Fire gilt bridge movement, keywind, florally engraved, 2 hammers, 2 gongs, lavishly florally engraved going barrel, ring balance, blued balance spring, fine florally engraved balance cock.
