A very rare Swiss gunmetal open faced automaton pocket watch and chatelaine, circa 1910. Movement with cylinder escapement.
White enamel dial, eccentric time indication in the upper half with radial Arabic hours, an outer minute track and Louis XIV hands, large subsidiary seconds in the lower half with a concentric, rotating automaton showing different ladies portraits, inscribed Brevet 24792 – D.R.G.M. 192177 – Breveté S.G.D.G. A plain case.
Comes with a corresponding chatelaine with a pen, purse and medallion.

In 1901 and 1902, this pocket watch automaton was patented by Arnold Schweizer-Schatzmann in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland and is very rare, especially in this condition.
