A Swiss gentleman’s decorative quarter repeating pocket watch with musical movement, circa 1820. The watch has an 18-carat gold engine-turned case. The case is embellished with engraved musical instruments and a reeded band. The case maker’s punch mark AI is also present. The dial is made of enamel and has Arabic numerals. There is a slide N/S to set strike/not strike for the striking train. The watch has gold spade hands. The 3/4 plate movement is fire gilt and keywind. The movement has a lavishly florally engraved barrel, two hammers, two gongs, musical movement, tuned vibrating blades, pinned disc, cylinder escapement and three-arm ring balance.
