Gold quarter repeating perpetuelle cylinder watch
–
A Swiss gold self winding quarter repeating perpetuelle cylinder pocket watch, retailed by M. Buys en Zoon, Amsterdam, circa 1830. The watch features a gilded full plate movement with a cylinder escapement, a three arm balance, and a small silvered regulation plate. It includes a pivoted perpetual weight mounted on the backplate, flanked by banking springs, and it can repeat on a gong. The dial is gilded and engine turned, signed by M. Buys en Zoon, with black filled Roman numerals and blued steel Breguet hands. The case is made of gold with an engine turned sunburst design and includes a plunge repeat mechanism accessed via the pendant. It has a repeat locking mechanism around the engine turned band, and the cuvette is signed M. Buys en Zoon, Amsterdam.

The movement is running smoothly, and the quarter is functioning consistently. The case is in very good condition considering its age. The engine turning is crisp and well defined, with light scratches present throughout. The dial shows minor wear, with some light scratches visible on the milled centre field and chapter rings, and there is some loss to the VI numeral.
