An English 18 carat yellow gold open faced key winding pocket watch, circa 1826. With an engine turned case back and a chased case band. A silver engine turned dial with applied yellow gold Roman hour numerals in cartouches, outer dot minute divisions and yellow gold spade hands. Gilt brass movement with fusee and chain, a verge escapement and polished monometallic balance. The case is stamped with the date letter for 1826 and maker’s mark H.J., probably for Henry Jackson in London, a master casemaker registered in July 1816.
