Unsigned silver watch with centre-seconds

A very rare Swiss silver hunting cased pocket watch with duplex jewelled escapement, centre seconds and jumping quarter-second diablotine, circa 1860. Made for the Chinese market. This watch features an exquisitely engraved hunting case made of silver with the number 197. The dome of the watch is adorned with magnificent engravings, the word DUPLEX, and a sailor’s representation. The watch is equipped with a high-quality gilt brass Fleurier duplex movement that is fully engraved with a Chinese calibre. The escapement of the watch is jewelled and has a free-standing barrel. It also has a single-wheel duplex escapement, a three-arm steel balance with flat rim and blued steel wings, a flat steel balance spring, and an index regulator. The enamel dial has radial narrow Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds divisions with fifteen-minute Arabic numerals, a centre second hand, a subsidiary dial with flashing 1/4 seconds diablotine, jumping seconds with half-seconds beat, and gold quatrefoil hands.
