Silver hunting cased repeater
–
A large and heavy full hunter cased quarter repeating pocket watch made by Schwob Frères in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, circa 1890. This engine turned watch has a numbered case crafted from silver with gold hinges, a coin edge and bears the maker’s mark, the cuvette is engraved with prize medals and marked Collectivité Suisse Grand Prix Paris 1889. The attractive white enamel dial with the depiction of a dog below 12 o’clock, reading Trusty underneath, has Roman hours in gold rimmed cartouches, an outer dot minute track, outermost scale with Arabic five minutes numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands. The glazed movement features a Swiss lever escapement and repeats the hours and quarter hours.
