Silver digital watch according to Pallweber’s patent

A rare Swiss silver pocket watch with jumping hours and minutes in the manner of Pallweber, circa 1890. The numbered open faced case, crafted from silver, is engine turned on the back with a central vacant cartouche surrounded by engraved floral decoration. The white enamel dial has two apertures for digital indication of the hours and minutes flanked by small polychrome enamel leaves and flowers, and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. A gilt brass movement, going barrel, cylinder escapement, monometallic balance, jumping hour and minutes mechanism according to Pallweber’s patent. The dial is signed Systeme Brevete (Patented system).
