Silver two train lever pocket watch

A Swiss silver and gold open faced two train lever pocket watch made by Fritz Piguet in Geneva, circa 1880. With independent jumping center seconds and a gold wheel train. Cast and chased decoration on the case, the bezel with a Greek key pattern, a scalloped band, the back cover features a geometric pattern with a border decorated to match the bezel, the interior engraved with the technical details, gold hinges, a thumb piece, collar and stop slide at 10. A glazed silver rimmed cuvette to view the movement.

White enamel dial with radial narrow Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track and blued steel Breguet hands. A rhodium plated movement with 23 jewels, Geneva striping decoration, two trains with tandem winding, gold wheel train, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring and an index regulator with engraved scale on the main bridge. Dial and movement signed, dial plate also punched FP.

An extremely fine example of a watch with independent seconds. As would be expected of Fritz Piguet, the movement is very finely finished with a gold wheel train and chronometer grade escapement. The case is of unusually high quality, very finely chased and with gold details.
