Silver verge with balance cock in the shape of the Royal Eagle
–
A French silver open faced key wind pocket watch made by Romilly, Paris, circa 1795. A polished case back, engraved dust cover, hinged and partly glazed, allowing one to see the balance cock. White enamel dial, suspended Breguet numerals, outer minute track and blued steel Fleur de Lys hands. A gilded brass full plate movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, probably a pink gold monometallic balance and blued steel flat hairspring, engraved silver balance cock in the shape of the Royal Eagle. Signature on the dial and movement. An apocryphal signature (not that of Jean Romilly), probably made in the Neuchâtel mountains.
