Silver watch for the British Hydrographic Service

A very well preserved deck chronometer for the British Hydrographic Service made by Vacheron & Constantin SA in Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1942. The numbered open faced case of this watch was crafted from silver and has the British military marking H.S.↑2 on the back lid. The silvered dial has Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands. The numbered movement features a high quality chronometer escapement in top condition, British military marking, Geneva striping decoration, a fine adjusting device and chronometer balance.
The dial and movement are signed.
