A very fine, rare, ultra-thin gold enamel hunting case pocket watch with an enamel miniature of Napoleon Bonaparte, circa 1830. 18k gold case, engine turned and lavishly engraved, newly reeded band, opaque polychrome miniature paintings, front: Napoleon on horseback looking through a telescope, with his army in the background; on the back, a beautiful goddess embracing an eagle, symbolizing immortality and courage, the attributes of a ruler and symbol of the Napoleonic Empire. Enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, blued Breguet hands. Full plate movement, keywind, gilt, lavishly orally engraved, cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance.
