Gold and enamel keyless dress watch

A fine and rare 18 Carat yellow gold and enamel keyless dress watch, made by Patek Philippe & Cie, Geneva, Switzerland, for Spaulding & Co., Circa 1910. Four body, demi bassine and polished case with hinged case back with blue champlevé enamel monogram within a lozenge, inclined outer border with blue champlevé enamel geometric pattern, the bezel decorated to match and hinged gold cuvette.
Satine dial and engine-turned in a fan leaf pattern, painted Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions and blued steel spade hands. Rhodium-plated movement with Geneva striping decoration, 17 jewels, counterpoised and calibrated straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring and an index regulator.
Dial signed by the retailer, case and movement signed Patek Philippe.

The present watch is a ‘Deluxe Table Clock’. The 59 8-D SCS calibre (59 mm, 8 days, jumping centre seconds) was patented on the 17th of August 1942 (Swiss patent No. 229234), published January 3rd, 1944 under the title (in French) ‘Timekeeper with Center Seconds’.
