Gold watch with enamel monogram

A very fine Swiss 18K yellow gold keyless pocket watch with a split-seconds chronograph, circa 1908. Made for the Cowell & Hubbard Co., Cleveland, Ohio. A solid, polished case, the back cover with royal blue champlevé enamel monogram, concealed hinge, curved rectangular pusher on the band for the split-seconds function, locking bolt at 11 o’clock and a hinged gold cuvette.

White enamel dial with Breguet numerals, outer minute and 1/5 seconds track with red Arabic 5-minute/seconds numerals, subsidiary seconds and yellow gold Louis XV hands. A rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 23 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, and a swan-neck micrometre regulator. Movement, case and cuvette signed by both Patek Philippe & Co. & by the retailer, dial signed The Cowell & Hubbard Co.
