A heavy French silver one-handed verge oignon watch with alarm, circa 1680. Full plate movement, chain and fusee, a florally engraved barrel for the alarm train, one hammer, a ring balance with mock pendulum, fine florally engraved balance cock. Gilt chased and engraved dial, white enamel cartouches with blue Roman hours, a central alarm disc and a blued steel hand. Plain case, the outer border pierced. Movement signed.

The French watchmaker Pascal Hubert was born around 1625 and became a master in 1649. He worked with Jacques Gloria Sr., one of the first makers to create watches without fusee. Hubert died probably circa 1701.
