A German silver open faced quarter repeating hour and quarter-hour self-striking coach clock with alarm, circa 1700. Gilt full plate movement, chain and fusee, cylinder escapement, two barrels, three hammers, three-arm brass balance, engraved and pierced balance cock. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic five-minute numerals. The case is richly florally pierced and engraved, rear bell. Dial and movement signed.

This timepiece seems to have undergone a sophisticated update. While it was originally fitted with a verge escapement, the contact of the new cylinder escapement is now controlled by a lever system that is adjusted by a screw.
