Rose gold open faced pocket watch

A very fine and extremely rare French 18 carat rose gold open faced verge pocket watch with visible balance and serpent automaton, circa 1800. Full plate movement, chain and fusee. A polychrome enamel dial with a scene depicting Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the circular aperture on the dial shows an exquisite painting of Adam and Eve under the apple tree, the serpent in the cut-out circles the couple once every second, small white enamel radial time indication with Arabic hours and outer minute dots in the lower part of the dial flanked by two graceful ladies with flower baskets and an elaborately ornamented window with gold tendrils to the left reveals the visible three-arm brass balance. Plain case, maker’s mark DPN. Case numbered.
