Jean Pierre Peugeot III was born in 1896.  In 1929, he took over the management of the company from his father Robert. He was president of the SA des Automobiles Peugeot until 1964 and then honorary president until he died in 1966. The origin of the company goes back to a bicycle workshop founded by Armand Peugeot in 1885. In 1896, a Peugeot was registered in Vienna as the first series-produced gasoline engine car.
