Rose gold open faced repeater

A very fine and elegant Swiss 18 carat rose gold quarter repeating open faced pocket watch, circa 1810. ½ Plate movement, key winding, two hammers, two gongs, a flying barrel, cylinder escapement and ring balance. White enamel dial with Arabic hours, outer minute divisions and blued spoon shaped hands. The case back is elaborately engine turned with a blank cartouche in the lower part, plain bezels on both sides, a fluted band, maker’s mark PG and the Greek letter Phi. Case numbered.

With this timepiece, special care was taken to make it as flat as possible. For this purpose, only half of the otherwise available space was allocated to the running mechanism with the balance wheel and barrel. The opposite half houses the rack mechanism with its mirror polished steel parts.
