Gilt and patinated bronze alarm watch

A very fine, small French partially gilded and patinated bronze Oeil de Boeuf (Eye of the Steer) cartel pocket watch with ringing chime and alarm, circa 1800. The brass movement with thread suspension, and a single barrel for the movement and striking mechanism. The front is made of brass featuring a central white enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, Arabic quarter hours, a central alarm disc and decorative hands. The round case is ornamented with an engraved bezel.
