Gilt enamelled split pearl set ladies’ watch

A fine Swiss gilded silver, enamel and split pearl set open faced pocket watch made for the Chinese market by Bovet in Fleurier, circa 1890. The gilt movement with a cylinder escapement and a monometallic balance. White enamel dial with Roman hours, outer minute divisions, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and decorative hands. The case with split pearl set bezels, pendant and bow, and a polychrome enamel bouquet of summer flowers on a blue enamelled ground on the hinged back. Dial and case signed.

One split pearl is missing on the front between 9 and 10 o’clock and one on the case back to the left of the pendant. A screw is lacking from the movement.
